Lukas Smith, a creative five-year-old from Antigo, Wisconsin, has transformed a community service project into a heartwarming endeavor. His mission? Crafting a handmade birthday card for every child in his small Central Wisconsin town.
According to Lukas’ mom, Sam Smith, this project initially began as a way for Lukas to fulfill his community service hours. However, it quickly evolved into a beautiful expression of Lukas’ love and his desire to give back to his community.

“He made the decision to create birthday cards for every kid in Antigo because that’s what he wanted to do,” she shares. When asked about his favorite part of the process, Lukas explains, “I love drawing inside and outside the cards, and putting stickers on them is my favorite.”
Megan Novak, a parent whose son Eddie received one of Lukas’ cards, expressed how much it meant to their family and how it made Eddie’s birthday even more special. Lukas’ sincere wish to “spread happiness and share joy with other kids” has undeniably uplifted the spirits of the entire community.
