People live in places where some wild animals can no longer live in their natural environments. Wildlife faces a lot of problems when roads are built and forests are cut down to make room for farms and factories. So, it warms my heart to hear about people who do what they can to help these animals. A picture was taken of a little girl helping a baby elephant who was stuck on the side of a road.
The baby elephant seems to be struggling to get out of the mud on the side of the road in the video that u/PxN13 posted on Reddit. But a young girl steps in to help him get out by showing him how to lift one leg at a time. After some trouble, the elephant got out of the mud, and he was very happy and relieved. It even lifts its trunk to show the little girl how thankful it is.
This video made people cry, and in just four days, it has gotten more than 45,000 upvotes. Someone on Reddit said, “I am uber fascinated by elephants they’re so smart! that was a genuine thank you. The calf understood she was there to help other animals may have panicked.” Another said, “The trunk nod at the end was heart melting. Like ‘thanks for that.. you’re cool x.’ ”
Many people thought the girl was very brave because elephants are big animals that can make people feel scared. One user wrote, “I can’t even imagine walking down the road and seeing an elephant. Let alone touching and helping one.” Another added, “It’s terrifying, touching elephants is. They’re so incredibly strong, if it wanted to take your life it could do so, easily, it is an incredibly humbling experience in my opinion.”
A third user joked, “It is sweet that she kept encouraging the elephant, but she was, literally, despite her best efforts, unable to move any part of this little one.”
Some people said that it’s tragic and sad that the elephant got caught in the first place, and that it’s all because people moved into their habitats. One user said, “That ending, what a creature they are. Really intelligent. But we as humans are ruining their way of living. Like more creatures. I hate that we are ruining so many intelligent creatures habitats.”

People on Reddit also said that the elephant will never forget the little girl for the rest of his life. Someone wrote, “So cute how the elephant thanked her afterward by raising its trunk and showing compassion toward her. I wonder if it’ll remember her and bond with her as the years go by. Some animals get excited when they see the person that helped them out.”
Someone else said, “Did you know that elephants have the same reaction in their brains to humans as humans do to puppies? They think we are cute!”
“Elephants are just so magnificent, compassionate and intelligent creatures. They amaze me,” said another.
This beautiful video shows that animals are always kind and loving, no matter what is going on. They only act out when they are upset about something that happened in the past or when they think they are in danger.
