At Hollywood Corners, Toby Keith’s venue in Norman, Oklahoma, he performed for two and a half hour concert after his diagnosis with stomach cancer.
The musician revealed his diagnosis of stomach cancer in June 2022 and announced that he had already completed six months of therapy at the time.
He recently revealed his plans for the future, saying he intended to start touring again as early as the fall of 2023, if everything goes according to plan. His tumor has already decreased by one-third, so things are looking well! He is still receiving immunotherapy and chemotherapy to fight the cancer from all angles.
He told The Oklahoman “All I gotta do is see if I can get through two or three nights of work and get a little break in this chemo, and we’ll go back to work.”
Keith posted a picture of him smiling on Instagram with the caption “Toby‘s first rehearsal turned into a 2 1/2 hour pop-up show. He sang all the hits plus the Bus Songs…Toby is back!”
The rehearsal was intended as a test run to see if he has the endurance for a 2- to 3-hour performance in case he needs to hit the road again soon, but it quickly turned into the real thing.
A fan uploaded a video of the unexpected performance on twitter, showing a cheerful, active Toby Keith holding his recognizable red Solo cup in his hand.
