Tina Turner dead at 83 – She was filled with personal tragedies

Tina Turner, beloved by music enthusiasts worldwide, was widely regarded as ‘simply the best.’ However, beneath the glamorous facade of her groundbreaking career, the singer had to endure a series of devastating personal tragedies.

Yesterday, it was announced that Tina passed away at the age of 83. Her publicist confirmed that she peacefully departed at her residence in Switzerland, marking the conclusion of an extraordinary career and a life filled with unimaginable heartache.

Hailing from Tennessee, Tina initially gained fame as part of the immensely popular duo Ike and Tina Turner in the 1970s. She later embarked on a solo journey, solidifying her position as one of the most accomplished female performers in history. Nonetheless, amidst her flourishing career, her personal life was plagued by a succession of hardships.

Tina’s struggles commenced during her childhood, as she faced abandonment at a tender age. At the mere age of 10, her mother, whom she claimed had never loved her, left her behind, and a few years later, her father followed suit.

At a young age of 22, shortly after experiencing fame, Tina, the renowned singer behind “What’s Love Got To Do With It,” entered into marriage with Ike Turner, her musical partner.

Initially, their relationship may have appeared idyllic, but later revelations exposed a dark reality. Tina endured a marriage characterized by manipulation, control tactics, and horrific physical abuse. She suffered from severe beatings resulting in broken bones and even endured a harrowing incident where Ike poured scalding hot coffee on her face, causing third-degree burns.

In 1976, Tina made the courageous decision to leave Ike. However, she found herself destitute and homeless, with less than a dollar to her name after their separation, losing almost all the profits she had earned during their time together.

Despite enduring years of abuse and a devastating divorce that left her financially depleted, Tina refused to abandon her dreams. Through remarkable determination and resilience, she emerged as one of the world’s most renowned musicians.

Yet, the string of misfortunes did not cease. After retiring from singing in 2009, Tina faced further heartbreak in 2018 when her son, Craig, tragically took his own life with a self-inflicted gunshot. Then, in late 2022, she experienced the devastating loss of her second child, Ronnie, who succumbed to complications of colon cancer at the age of 62.

Throughout her life, Tina battled her own health issues, including a stroke in 2013 that necessitated relearning how to walk and a life-threatening bout with cancer in 2016.

As the world mourns Tina’s passing, it is important to reflect on the numerous devastating hardships she confronted and miraculously triumphed over during her remarkable journey.
