The odds are ‘1 in 20 billion’, 46-year-old mom gives birth to healthy identical triplets

For a woman, becoming a mother is a momentous occasion. It does not matter whether it is her first child or if she already has multiple children; the moment is always special.

This Utah mother not only defied all expectations, but also all odds by simultaneously giving birth to not two, but three identical babies!

Audrey Tiberius yearned for more children despite being in her forties. Doctors told her it was extremely unlikely that she would conceive again, but she knew in her heart that it would happen.

At the age of 41, she consulted a fertility specialist who recommended in vitro fertilization (IVF) but cautioned that her chances of success were only 10%. Later, she revealed,  “They said, ‘I’m sorry, your eggs are too old.’ We did three rounds of in vitro, and they all failed.”

Audrey and her husband, Tyler Tiberius, were both 41 years old and disappointed after three unsuccessful IVF attempts. However, since they still had Marcus, James, Christian, and Max, the couple decided to be content.

However, Audrey still maintained hope and prayed for a large family. She stated, “I prayed and prayed for five years to have more children because I always wanted a really big family, and seven was kind of my number.”

At the age of 45, she felt that something was amiss with her body. She soon discovered she was pregnant! The family was overjoyed by the news and immediately celebrated.

When they visited a doctor, Audrey received her second surprise: she was expecting three babies, not just one as they had anticipated. Audrey recalls, “There’s no way to explain it other than a miracle. What a gift from God!”

Having identical triplets at the age of 46 is extremely uncommon. They consulted a statistician about the possibility of this happening and learned that the odds are approximately one in twenty billion!

Due to her age, Audrey was at a high risk for miscarriage, and she feared the worst. She prayed for her safety and decided to have faith in herself, and thankfully nothing untoward transpired.

Sky, River, and Bay joined the Tiberius family in March 2022. They completed the perfect family for their mother, who had always desired seven children.

And Audrey herself is a devoted mother. She breastfeeds her children, changes their diapers, burps them, and dresses them, among other things. While she generally maintains a cheerful demeanor, she acknowledges that at times it can be challenging.

She remarked, “It’s a little crazy sometimes when we can’t tell who’s who because they’re across the room. They just look so much alike.”

While Audrey’s ideal number of children has always been seven, she has not ruled out the possibility of having more. When asked if they would have more children, she responded, “Perhaps not. Who can say?

She is a strong proponent of women having open conversations with their doctors about their fertility, stating,“Doctors need to talk to women about fertility and what their options are to save them heartache.”
She became emotional as she spoke about the three new additions to her family, wishing that everyone could have the children they desired. And coming from a person who has struggled for some time, it makes it even sweeter.
