Two teenagers were inside watching TV when a tree fell onto their home in Maryland, shockingly caught on camera.
The two teens are seen in the video relaxing in the living area with their small chihuahua, Gizmo. The weather and strong gusts kept the girls home from school.
One can see a big tree falling. Then, out of nowhere, it bursts through the home’s roof and lands on top of the girls.
“I was floored. I was shocked,” mom Jennifer Stone said.
Fortunately, none suffered significant injuries.
In an interview on Good Morning America, sisters Mariah and Ashley Stone described the horror ordeal.
“It sounded like an earthquake,” said Ashley, 15. “It’s definitely a sound that I think for both of us, we’ll never forget.”
Stone stated that “they’re doing OK” and added that “one of them was screaming bloody murder.” The branches left them with some cuts and bruises.
Their mom believes it was the kitchen fridge that saved their lives.
“If the refrigerator was not where it was in the kitchen, the girls probably would have been crushed,” she said.
Mariah, 14, added, ‘That refrigerator saved our lives.’
Gizmo was “still shook up,” Stone said. “But he made it through and that’s all that matters.”
To assist with their repair expenses, a GoFundMe page was created in their name.
