Teen has a graduation party and 18 of their late father’s colleagues have come to attend

Micah’s father was unable to attend his graduation party, but more than a dozen officers attended in his honor.

When children are young, they typically look up to certain groups of people. Athletes inspire some, while firefighters, soldiers, and movie stars inspire others.

Police officers were role models for one young boy.

Micah Schieber is his name, and he is no longer that little boy.

He graduated from high school and decided to invite as many local cops as he could to his graduation party.

Micah’s motivations for inviting cops to his party were deeply personal.

Micah has a special affection for the police because his father was a cop.

Micah lost his father when he was only six years old.

Micah’s father had collapsed during a marathon.

He died of heart complications, leaving behind a wife and three children.

This was obviously extremely difficult for Micah, his siblings, and his mother.

In the video below, his mother speaks about the tragic incident and its impact on the family.

One of the most difficult aspects for her was watching her children grieve, knowing there was nothing she could do to bring their father back.

Hundreds of police officers turned out for Micah’s father’s funeral.

This had a profound effect on Micah that has lasted to the present day.

He told Inside Edition that inviting police officers to his graduation party was a way for him to feel as if his father was still present.

Despite having sent out the invitations, Micah had no idea how many cops, if any, would show up.

To his surprise, eighteen officers drove up to his house with their lights flashing and smiles on their faces.

They formed a line in Micah’s driveway and took turns shaking his hand.

The adolescent also had a surprise for the officers.

He made party bags for each of them and distributed them.

He also gave them a gift that he had made in welding class.

Micah, his family, and all of the officers who attended the celebration were moved by the occasion.

Many of them had served on the police force with Micah’s father and missed him just as much as the rest of his family did.

It can be difficult to lose someone you care about, but spending time with others who knew and loved them can help to ease the pain.

Dozens of people were able to honor a person they loved and missed at Micah’s party.

If you’ve ever lost someone close to you, make every effort to honor them in the best way possible.

That way, they will live on through you and the memories you share.
