Teen bride brags about inheriting wealth from 89-year-old husband with dementia

Being young and naive is one thing, but being manipulative and deceitful is another thing altogether. Unfortunately, one young woman, Olivia C. Stone, 19, reportedly demonstrated both qualities when she married a man 70 years her senior in order to inherit his fortune.

The man in question, Lee R. Hopkins, met Stone at a senior living facility where she worked as a staff member. Although Stone was not Hopkins’ primary caregiver, they became close when she was assigned to bring him his medication.

According to Arkansas marriage papers, the pair got married in September 2020. While Stone claimed that it was all for love, her social media posts suggested otherwise. She made comments indicating that she was after Hopkins’ fortune and even boasted about how wealthy he was.

Stone’s private conversations revealed that she was simply a selfish individual taking advantage of the old man. She even made remarks indicating that she expected him to pass away soon, stating that “he could die before Christmas LMAO.” Her disrespectful remarks drew a lot of condemnation, and she deactivated her Twitter account in response.

When contacted, Brookdale’s public relations department stated that Hopkins was no longer a resident of the facility, but a Facebook post praising Stone for her work at the facility appeared to confirm her job at Brookdale Russellville. Hopkins was living at the facility with his wife before her death in a vehicle accident, after which his health deteriorated.

While it’s unclear what the current status of Hopkins’ health is, it is clear that Stone’s actions were unethical and exploitative. Using someone’s vulnerability and mental health issues for personal gain is never acceptable.
