The majority of us would probably all agree that Rob Lowe has had an incredibly fortunate, one that has been bathed with both fame and wealth.
It didn’t take long for the young man from Ohio to become a teen star and a member of the Brat Pack after making his television debut in the ABC sitcom “A New Kind of Family” when he was just 15 years old.
He established himself as a major Hollywood movie star by starring in a series of films throughout the 1980s, such as St. Elmo’s Fire and Outsiders.
His marriage to make-up artist Sheryl Berkoff, which took place in 1991 and is still going strong, plus the fact that his two sons are already in their 20s give the appearance that Lowe’s life is flawless from the outside.
Although Rob Lowe and Sheryl Berkoff went on a blind date in 1983, the two did not truly start a relationship at that time. It wasn’t until several years later, in 1990, that they started dating one another after rejoining on the set of Lowe’s film Bad Influence, where Berkoff worked as a make-up artist on set.
A year later, the couple tied the knot and soon after, they welcomed two kids into the world. They’ve been married for more than 31 years at this point!
Rob’s response to the question concerning the key to the success of his long and happy marriage was, “Well, it starts at the very beginning. I married my best friend, and if you’re lucky enough to be in a relationship with your best friend, you’re so far ahead of the game. We see the world the same way. We have no fundamental point of view differences that we have to navigate every day, like whether it’s how to raise a kid or what to do with money. It’s really important, and a lot of people don’t have that in their relationships.”
Recognizing that there are happy and difficult times in every marriage, After 31 years, Rob said that their relationship is totally different than it was 31 years ago, but it’s different in a really positive manner now that they have been together for 31 years.
In celebration of the couple’s recent 31st wedding anniversary, Lowe posted a photo of Sheryl to Instagram along with a sweet remark that read:
“Happy 31st Anniversary, baby. Your love has made my world. You are as beautiful, knowledgeable, fascinating, kind, and hilarious as you were so many glorious years ago. Partners in love for life!!”
Lowe has experienced some difficult periods in his life and has battled and overcome an addiction. Today marks the 30th anniversary of the day Lowe made the decision to take up that struggle and alter his life forever.
At the height of his celebrity, he was misusing drugs and alcohol, which caused a series of scandals that put his marriage in jeopardy.
He made the difficult choice to improve his life at the age of 26.
The trajectory of Lowe’s career went in the wrong direction for more than a decade, but he was able to turn things around when he returned to television and landed the role of Sam Seaborn on the NBC political drama “The West Wing” in the year 1999.
