Working at McDonald’s might not be a huge deal for other people, but for Freia, it meant everything.
Some people didn’t think Freia would be able to work and support herself since she had Down syndrome.
However, Freia, who was 20 years old at the time, was given an opportunity in 1984 at a McDonald’s in Needham. She ran the McDonald’s french fry station in Needham for the following 32 years, earning the respect of the locals.
Sadly, CBS reports that Freia passed away on April 30.
According to her obituary on Legacy, Freia A. David will have a memorial service on June 18 at the George F. Doherty & Son’s Funeral Home in Needham, and her friends, family, and neighbors are welcome.

Freia, who was born in Needham, Massachusetts, and as an adult, went into the Charles River Center assisted living home.
She had been attending the center’s lessons since she was 3 years old, and during the course of her life, she had received assistance, support, and had grown up there in a community setting.
The center gave her confidence in herself and assisted her in getting in touch with McDonald’s.
They anticipated Freia’s success, but they barely could have predicted that she would spend more than 30 years being the city’s most adored customer service employee.

Freia gave her all while working four hours a day, five days a week, at McDonald’s servicing customers.
David confided: “It was nice, I’m really happy. I like all my friends here.”
Freia was among the first residents with Down syndrome to be given a job, according to Anne-Marie Bajwa, a worker at the Charles River Center.
Freia, though, thought it was time to step on when she was 52 years old.
At her departure celebration, the community showed Freia an outpouring of affection that was nothing short of inspirational. Naturally, Freia deserved it.
Freia informed the media that she would enjoy her retirement since it would allow her to unwind and care for herself.
There to express their gratitude for her lifetime’s work were members of her family, friends, coworkers, clients, and even the local media.
A certificate praising her and recognizing her accomplishments was given to her. One of the franchise owners of the McDonald’s in Needham, Timothy McCoy, commented,
“Freia’s smile, her enthusiasm, and her daily hugs made our restaurant more than just a restaurant.”
“We are so sad that she is retiring, but very happy for the time we had to work with her. The McDonald’s of Needham will never be the same without Freia David.”
Anyone who dedicates 32 years of their life to one career should be commended. especially if they do it every day.
Her obituary writes: “For 32 years she worked at McDonald’s of Needham where she served up spectacular French fries, teased her co-workers, and greeted everyone with a smile.”
Sadly, CBS reports that Freia passed away in 2019. There was no mention of the reason for her death.

“Freia was born to a loving family, having Down syndrome, but this never slowed her down. She graduated from Needham High School, participated in Special Olympics, had many friends, and enjoyed music, movies, and Mickey Mouse.”
