The fire department in Rancho Cucamonga, California seems to be experiencing a baby boom, with nine of the firefighters’ wives giving birth to babies around the same time. This unique event has put the department’s firefighters in a league of their own.
Between the months of March and July of this year, nine babies were born to firefighters in the department, creating quite a stir. This means that in just five months, nine new firefighters were welcomed into the world. As a way of commemorating this special moment, the department decided to arrange a photo shoot with all of the new dads and their babies.

The fire department shared the photos on its Facebook page, writing, “Say hello to Rancho Cucamonga Fire’s newest little family members! We are thrilled to see our RCFD fire family keep growing!” In one of the photos, the firefighters arranged their baby’s car seats in a circle and draped their fire coats over them, displaying the department’s letters and the last names of each firefighter. Out of the nine babies, seven were girls and two were boys.
Lindsay Shook, the wife of one of the firefighters, took the photos, which quickly went viral on social media. In just two days, the post had been shared more than a thousand times. Gabrielle Costello, one of the firefighters’ wives and a spokesperson for the department, explained that the photos were just a way to commemorate a special time and remember the moment.

While it might seem like a massive coincidence that so many babies were born to firefighters’ families in such a short amount of time, the wives and firefighters maintain that it was just a fluke. But this coincidence has brought the firefighters and their wives closer together, creating a bond that they will cherish for a long time to come.

As Gabrielle notes, “It’s brought everyone closer together, not just the nine firefighters, but also the wives. We share tips and sleep schedules and all that kind of new mom stuff.”
Having a support system during the early days of motherhood can be incredibly helpful, especially when your partner is away for long periods of time. Gabrielle explained, “Our husbands work 24-hour shifts. During fire season they are gone for weeks on end.

It’s nice to have friends that understand the firefighter lifestyle.” And now, with nine new babies in the mix, these families have formed a strong bond that will hopefully last for at least the next 18 years.
