The internet-famous kitten, Tater Tot, who stole the hearts of many, has sadly passed away after battling illness for a week. His owner, Ash Houghton, shared the heartbreaking news on Facebook, expressing that Tater Tot passed away in her arms.
In the days leading up to his passing, Tater Tot’s energy had been steadily declining, and they were optimistic that antibiotics could help treat his illness. Unfortunately, he also began showing signs of pneumonia, leading to Ash administering medications and using a nebulizer in an attempt to manage the condition. Despite their best efforts, the little kitten couldn’t overcome the illness, leaving his fans and followers mourning the loss of their beloved “spud.”
“We put so much love, care, literal blood, sweat and tears into trying to save as many animals as we can – sometimes they just don’t make it, and it is devastating,”expressed Ash Houghton, Tater Tot’s owner.
In memory of Tater Tot, affectionately known as Spudbubs by his fans, Ash requested that all his supporters consider donating to their local cat shelter. She acknowledged the profound impact Tater Tot had on her heart and felt incredibly grateful to have shared his journey with the entire world.
Ash expressed her heartfelt gratitude to everyone who had been cheering Tater Tot on throughout his life. She was moved to witness how millions of people from around the globe came together to celebrate the life of this little creature.
Tater Tot’s fan base started growing in June when his adorable pictures were shared in the Facebook group ‘THIS CAT IS G R O M P Y.’ Despite his challenges, such as malformed legs and a cleft palate, he captured the hearts of many with his undeniable cuteness.
