Sasha the pitbull pup enjoys the company of Masailah, a human baby who was born a few days after her.
From the moment Sasha could open her eyes and take her first wobbly steps, she was drawn to Masailah’s presence.
Latana, Masailah’s mother, says that Sasha has been a constant presence in Masailah’s life since they were born just days apart. Sasha even joins Masailah in bed every day and the two have even bathed together.
In the middle of the night, Latana awoke to the sound of Sasha barking incessantly.
Latana was concerned that Sasha might be in trouble and went downstairs to check on her, only to discover that her family was actually in danger. Sasha was outside in the backyard.
As Latana stepped outside, she was horrified to witness her neighbor’s house engulfed in flames. To her dismay, the fire had also begun to spread towards her own home.
Filled with concern for her family’s safety, Latana was determined to evacuate them from their home. However, she realized that Sasha had bravely dashed back inside the house.
Latana found Sasha inside the house, holding onto baby Masailah.
“I ran into the room, and I see Sasha. She has my baby like, you know, by the diaper and just like dragging her off the bed.” – Latana Chai.
Not only did Sasha alert Latana to the fire, but the remarkable dog had also physically pulled the baby to safety.
Shortly after, Latana managed to get the rest of her family safely outside. The fire department arrived promptly to extinguish the flames.
Fortunately, everyone was unharmed. Without her, the outcome could have been different.
