Owner puzzled by dog not using its bed until she realizes it’s tribute to departed friend

This valuable lesson was recently conveyed by a 17-year-old girl named Caitlin Wyanne.

She shared a touching photo of her dog, Harry, asleep next to the place where his canine friend, George, used to lie.

George and Harry had a distinctive arrangement.

They would invariably spend their time together, nestled in a corner of the room.

George had his own bed, whereas Harry opted to rest just beside it.

Harry had his own bed too, but he frequently chose the floor as his place to rest, a way to remain close to his beloved friend.

Unfortunately, George passed away just over a year ago.

The family faced the heartbreaking choice of euthanizing him after he was diagnosed with kidney failure.

Even with the passage of time, Caitlin observed that Harry continues to sleep in the very same spot, nestled next to where George’s bed once stood.

Remarkably, he still leaves the bed unoccupied, mirroring the way he did when George was alive.

“I’m full on crying rn…he always let George sleep there and he died almost a year ago and he still lies there,” Wyanne shared on Twitter.

Harry comprehends that the bed doesn’t belong to him.

Out of respect and perhaps a feeling of longing, he steadfastly refuses to use it.

It’s evident that he deeply misses his former companion, and who can blame him? Losing a best friend is a challenging experience, whether for humans or dogs.

Dogs are inherently social beings and thrive in the presence of their peers, particularly when they share the same breed.

Both Harry and George were Lhasa Apsos.

Harry was there during George’s last moments.

“We took Harry to the vets with us when George was put to sleep and stayed next to him the whole time,” Wyanne wrote.

One can only imagine the emotional burden this must have placed on the family.

The bond between the two dogs was genuinely remarkable.

“Almost a year on and he clearly still misses George!

He sleeps on the floor to the side of the bed now quite often but I didn’t realize why until I was looking through photos of them both from a year ago and saw the photo I tweeted which made me realize,” Wyanne shared.

Even with the passing of time, Harry has not forgotten the happiness he and George shared, whether it was playfully darting around the house or enjoying serene naps together.
