Following her triumphant first Oscar win, Jamie Lee Curtis found herself in a new spotlight, teaming up with Offset and Cardi B for their latest music video “Jealousy.”
In a recent interview with Good Morning America, Offset, part of the Migos trio, shed light on how he managed to enlist Curtis in a unique role. The rapper shared insights into the collaboration, recounting how he reached out to the veteran actress via Instagram Direct Message. “Jamie Lee Curtis is a real one,” acknowledged Offset, 31. He continued, revealing, “So, how that happened is I DM’d Jamie Lee Curtis on Instagram and said, ‘Yo, I got an idea. I would love to work with you.'”
Offset elaborated, recounting Curtis’s swift response, “She wrote me back so quickly. She was like, ‘Yeah, I got you, but you need to follow me.’ That’s how I knew she was cool.”
This exciting synergy came about following Curtis’s remarkable victory as the best supporting actress at the 2023 Academy Awards for her remarkable performance in “Everything Everywhere All at Once.” The subsequent exchange of numbers led to Curtis’s enthusiastic involvement in the project.
In a teaser video shared on Instagram ahead of the music video’s release, Curtis showcased her versatility by stepping into the shoes of CNN host Sonya Friedman. In a playful homage to James Brown’s enigmatic CNN interview from 1988, Offset engaged with Curtis’s character, addressing the swirling rumors of “drama” between him and Cardi, 30.
Curtis, in her role as Sonya Friedman, directly confronted Offset about the speculations, to which he responded with evasive humor. Their witty banter and Curtis’s charismatic portrayal added an intriguing layer to the upcoming music video.
Offset then steered the conversation toward their collaboration, setting the stage for the “Jealousy” release on July 28.
This musical venture followed Offset’s previous social media stir, where he made cheating allegations against Cardi in a now-deleted Instagram Story post. The rapper later addressed this incident in a candid interview, attributing it to a combination of a fiery argument and the influence of Casamigos tequila.
Amidst the ups and downs of their relationship, Offset emphasized their deep connection, reaffirming their bond. He also explained his decision to delete the controversial post, asserting that their personal matters should remain just that – personal.
