Benjamin Keough’s mom, Lisa Marie Presley, is reflecting on the heartache she has experienced since his suicide over two years ago.
Recently, she posted on Instagram: “Navigating through this hideous grief that absolutely destroyed and shattered my heart and my soul into almost nothing has swallowed me whole.”
Together with a critique of the upcoming movie, Elvis, Presley also delivered an emotional message about bereavement.
In July 2020, Benjamin Presley, who was Elvis and Priscilla Presley’s grandson, was discovered dead in his California home. The suicide death of the 27-year-old was verified.
Presley was reportedly unable to express his sorrow at the moment of his death.
The Hollywood Reporter was informed by her representative that “she is completely heartbroken, inconsolable and beyond devastated but trying to stay strong for her 11-year-old twins and her oldest daughter, Riley. She adored that boy. He was the love of her life.”
Since Benjamin’s passing, Presley has avoided making many public comments about him or the impact his passing has had on her or any of her other three children.
Presley didn’t speak up until October 2020, the month of Benjamin’s 28th birthday, when she shared a lovely photo and text honoring her son.
Nearly two years after the passing of her son, Presley is now talking openly about her experience with grief once more. This time, she even made the time to write her own review of the upcoming movie Elvis by Baz Luhrmann.
‘Absolutely exquisite’
She remarked that she had seen the movie twice and thought it was “nothing short of spectacular.” The movie has its debut on June 24.
She praised Austin Butler for portraying her dad in the movie “accurately and respectfully.” She thinks of it as something Oscar deserving.
She shared: “It breaks my heart that my son isn’t here to see it. He would have absolutely loved it as well.”
