David McCallum is an actor who has appeared on a number of popular television shows over the years, including The Man from U.N.C.L.E. in the 1960s and NCIS more recently. He is well-known and revered for his work in these shows.
The actor, who is now 89 years old, has had a very long and eventful life. He has two wives, a total of eight grandchildren. These days, his visage is easily identifiable almost everywhere he goes.
In the year 1957, McCallum and his first wife, the late Jill Ireland, exchanged vows in London. In the end, he was unsuccessful in his attempt to reclaim his first wife from her co-star at the time, Charles Brosnan, who went on to marry Ireland and remain by her side until the time of her passing.
McCallum never said anything but supportive things about his ex-wife and Brosnan, even going so far as to remark that he was pleased that the two were able to find each other. Soon after relocating to Ireland and going through a divorce, he met Katherine Carpenter, who became his more long-term partner in love.
McCallum and Carpenter have been married for about 55 years and are still very happy. From his two marriages, the NCIS star has a total of five children. Those children have given him a total of eight grandchildren, whom David loves very much.
In point of fact, McCallum has asserted in the past that he has always done his utmost to fulfill his role as a present parent and to cultivate solid ties with each of his children. Jason, his youngest son from his first marriage, passed away when he was barely 20 years old, and the loss of his life tore a hole in McCallum’s view of the world.
It is interesting to note that David did not find out he had become a grandfather until after Jason had already passed away. After Jason’s death, a young woman is said to have phoned McCallum to inform him that she and Jason had a kid together and named the child Tory.
One of David’s eight grandchildren, Tory, is said to have been welcomed into the family with open arms by David and the rest of the family.
According to AmoMama, David’s grandchildren call him “Granddaddy” or “Grandducky” when referring to him. It has been revealed by the actor himself that he thinks the name “Grandpa” sounds too ancient.
Although the Scottish-born celebrity does not have an Instagram account, he frequently shares photos of himself with his grandchildren on his personal Facebook page.
McCallum uploads a lot of photographs on his page, and the majority of them have captions that describe what’s going on in the picture.
The actor has talked about the fact that several of his grandchildren reside on different sides of the US in previous interviews.
He joked: “I keep the boys and girls on different coasts so I can keep them straight.”
I don’t know about you, but watching David’s bond with his family brings a smile to my face.
