Millionaire banker’s engagement party stuns Italian society with accusations against fiancée

The elite circles of Italian high society were thrown into turmoil when a millionaire banker, Massimo Segre, aged 64, used his engagement party at his Turin estate to openly accuse his bride-to-be of infidelity.

Despite the customary atmosphere of celebration among distinguished guests gathered to honor his impending marriage to Cristina Seymandi, 47, Massimo diverged from the usual affectionate sentiments expected in such gatherings, shocking the social elite of Turin.

Amidst an extravagant banquet, he proclaimed, ‘I want to give Cristina the freedom to love.

‘Specifically, to love another person; a notable lawyer, who she clearly cares about more than me.’

“Dear Cristina,” he continued, his words cutting through the air, “I know how much you are in love with him mentally and sexually. And I know that before him you had a relationship with an industrialist acquaintance.”

In a state of shock, Cristina’s gaze darted around the room, seeking solace among the approximately 150 attendees, as her fiancé proceeded to display images capturing her alongside another man.

Gathering himself, Massimo’s voice resonated with a mix of anguish and disappointment as he addressed his friends, the room descending into silence. ‘Don’t think it pleases me to look like a cuckold in front of all of you.’ 

‘Cristina is so good at telling her truths, that I couldn’t leave her alone to narrate the reason why I’m ending [our] life together tonight.’

Subsequently, he extended his best wishes to her, advising her to embark on her planned journey to Mykonos with her lover, noting that the expenses had already been covered.

Following the conclusion of his speech, the lights dimmed, and Massimo discreetly departed from the stage. Reports from Italian media indicated that some guests felt used as part of this dramatic spectacle.

The stunned attendees remained in a state of silence, grappling with their thoughts and emotions.

In the aftermath of the engagement party, a video captured by one of the guests went viral, thrusting Cristina into the spotlight and exposing her to death threats.

In a letter addressed to the director of the Zona Bianca TV news program, Cristina asserted that Massimo’s actions constituted an act of “psychological violence” and were meticulously calculated as a form of revenge.

Additionally, Cristina revealed that a precious sapphire ring, bestowed upon her by Massimo’s mother to symbolize their engagement, had strangely vanished a fortnight prior to the event.

According to a statement made to the Times by Cristina’s advisor, legal measures are being pursued in response to the perceived harm to her reputation caused by her ex-fiancé’s actions.

‘She has suffered very serious attacks on social media and threats from Italian citizens. It has been traumatic,’ she said.
