Michael Madsen is still looking for answers as he struggles with his son’s suicide

Reservoir Dogs star Michael Madsen received a heartbreaking final text from his son before his tragic suicide: “I love you dad.”

Hudson Madsen, the 26-year-old son of the Hollywood legend, was a U.S. Army Sergeant stationed in Hawaii. Following his first tour, he took his own life by shooting himself in the head, as revealed by his father.

Madsen, renowned for his role in the Kill Bill franchise, expressed his profound shock upon learning about his son’s tragic demise. Just a few days prior, they had exchanged heartfelt words, with his son expressing happiness and affection in their last text message, saying, “I love you dad.”

The absence of any visible indications of depression only adds to the overwhelming sense of sadness and bewilderment. Madsen is currently grappling with the devastating event, striving to comprehend the circumstances surrounding his son’s untimely passing.

“I didn’t see any signs of depression. It’s so tragic and sad. I’m just trying to make sense of everything and understand what happened,” he continued.

Hudson, Madsen’s eldest son with his wife DeAnna Madsen, held a special connection as the godchild of Quentin Tarantino. He was followed by his brothers Kalvin and Luke. Additionally, Madsen has two other sons, Christian and Max, from his previous marriage to Jeannine Bisignano.

In reference to Hudson’s personal life, his wife Carlie’s social media posts indicated a joyful and thriving relationship. They tied the knot in 2019, and Carlie’s online presence hinted at their shared struggle with infertility, leading them to consider in vitro fertilization (IVF) as a means to expand their family.

A mere week before his unfortunate passing on January 22, 2022, Carlie took to Instagram to share a significant moment. She posted a picture of herself wearing a hospital gown, disclosing that she had recently undergone surgery to remove a tumor.

In her caption, she expressed heartfelt admiration for her incredible husband, highlighting his unwavering patience throughout the entire process. The photo was taken at the Tripler Army Medical Center, a Department of Defense facility located in Hawaii.

Carlie further revealed that they had spent approximately seven hours at the hospital, and during her surgery, her husband made a thoughtful trip to Target. He returned with flowers, comfortable pajamas, her favorite candy, and a card. His tremendous support and assistance in her recovery have been invaluable to her, for which she expressed deep gratitude.

Roughly two weeks thereafter, Carlie shared a poignant photograph of herself alongside Hudson, accompanied by a simple yet profound message: “I miss you so much.”

The circumstances leading to Hudson’s tragic suicide left everyone bewildered and perplexed.

Deeply shaken by his son’s suicide, Madsen, who was 64 years old at the time, expressed his profound bewilderment.  “He had typical life challenges that people have with finances, but he wanted a family,” Madsen shared. “He was looking towards his future, so its [sic] mind blowing. I just can’t grasp what happened.”

Madsen, renowned for his role in “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,” made a revealing statement about his son, highlighting the internal struggles that lay beneath his seemingly happy demeanor. Having served in Afghanistan, Hudson battled with mental health issues.

Despite the need for therapy, he chose to keep his private struggles hidden and ceased seeking help. Madsen, suspecting possible instances of mistreatment and judgment within the military ranks, requested an investigation. However, the findings of this investigation have not yet been made public.

Tragically, just one month after Hudson’s untimely death, Madsen, famous for his collaborations with Quentin Tarantino’s edgy and comedic films, faced a personal setback. He was arrested for trespassing at a luxurious Malibu residence where he had recently been evicted. Madsen was later released on bail.

The actor has had previous encounters with the law. In 2019, he faced charges of driving under the influence (DUI) following an SUV crash. Additionally, according to TMZ, in 2012, he was charged with child endangerment.

Upon entering his residence, the actor discovered his teenage son smoking marijuana, leading to a heated argument between the two. TMZ reported that a physical altercation ensued, resulting in visible injuries to the son when the authorities arrived at the scene. Furthermore, Madsen appeared to be under the influence of alcohol during his arrest.

Following Hudson’s tragic death, the family issued a statement expressing their profound sorrow and immense pain over the loss. They described Hudson’s memory and radiant spirit as something cherished by all who knew and loved him.

On January 23, 2023, Carlie, offering a heartfelt tribute to her husband, affectionately referred to as “Lump,” shared her feelings on Instagram. She expressed her ongoing struggle to comprehend the passing of an entire year without him, emphasizing the persistent pain she experiences daily. Carlie confessed that he is the first thought in her mind upon waking and the last before falling asleep.

Overwhelmed with grief, she expressed deep remorse for not being able to fully understand his internal struggles that fateful day. Carlie conveyed her sincere apologies for any shortcomings, pledging to carry his presence with her always. She concluded by expressing her profound longing and love for him, using the endearing nickname “Lump.”
