When David’s teachers informed Ronya and her husband, Henry Balogun, that he was surpassing the standard academic metrics in third grade, they recognized his exceptional abilities. The family decided to have David’s intelligence formally tested in 2020, which revealed that he was not just gifted but profoundly gifted, leaving them astonished.
David, who simply felt bored at his previous school, craved more intellectual challenge. He found the solution by enrolling in an online high school, specifically the Reach Cyber Charter School in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Remarkably, at just nine years old, David successfully completed his coursework and graduated within three years.
But his thirst for knowledge remains unquenched. David sees his high school graduation as just the beginning, expressing his desire to pursue multiple degrees. He has already completed a semester at Bucks County Community College and has set his sights on attending prestigious Ivy League universities like The University of Pennsylvania, Harvard, or Princeton. His passion for learning encompasses various subjects, including art, math, science, English, social studies, with aspirations to delve into astronomy, engineering, and software development.
While David has already transcended the boundaries of high school, he hopes his story will inspire other high-achieving students to break free from limitations and realize their full potential. He recognizes that many children like him possess the capability to graduate at a young age, but they may lack the necessary resources and support.
“I literally had to break the box to be able to take care of my son the right way,” Ronya acknowledged, emphasizing the unconventional path they have chosen.
