A Louisiana man stopped on the side of the road to help a kitten before being ambushed by a litter of them, which he eventually helped rehome.
The video of Robert Brantley saving 13 kittens in June has recently resurfaced on Twitter, and viewers are as ecstatic as if it was the first time they saw it.
Brantley was driving home in Pioneer, Louisiana, on June 7 when he “ran across what I thought was a baby kitten by itself,” he told Viral Hog.
In the viral video, a little black, brown, and white kitten was wandering on the side of the road before rushing over to him, and he scooped him up and showed it off to the camera.
‘Oh no,’ Brantley can be heard saying moments later.
A swarm of little kitties, eagerly awaiting his attention, ambushed the Southerner right away. Kitten after kitten was seen jumping through the grass and swarming around his feet.
‘I thought I was saving one, hot-diggity-dog,’ he can be heard saying.
The dad-of-two would eventually scoop up all 13 kittens into his car and took them home.
‘[I] wasn’t ready to take them but couldn’t leave them for dead either,’ he told Viral Hog. ‘So I loaded them up and brought them home where we’re working to get them healthy and get a good home.’
A day later, he shared a video of his car swarmed with chirping kittens roaming every inch, as he playfully groaned: ‘My tactical Honda was not prepared for this.’
He revealed he loaded up the little fur balls by rolling down the car window and ‘funneling em in.’
‘I couldn’t keep up with them as I would throw one in and two would jump out,’ he wrote on Instagram in June.
Brantley went on to show Scout getting all clean up in a kiddie pool after sharing the kitten’s bath time.
Scout, Ruby, Nala, Michael Scott, Zeus, Champ, Sandy, and Milo, to name a few, were mostly rehomed. Ruby, Scout, and Milo were kept by the family.
Brantley’s last update to the world showed his precious new kittens snoozing in a box by the window.
Later, the Brantley family would rescue a few dogs and assist another dog who had recently given birth to a puppy in the same area where the kittens were discovered.
When his wife, Courtney, learned that an “elderly man” had a yard full of cats and dogs, she later decided to take in eight puppies.
