Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary and Valentine’s Day

Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn are one of Hollywood’s most memorable and enduring couples.

The two celebrities have been together for four decades (they celebrated their 40th anniversary on Valentine’s Day this past weekend), and they are still as devoted to one another as they were when they first met.

Given the various allures and distractions that life in the spotlight can bring, it’s a wonder that neither has ever appeared to step on the wrong foot. I mean, how many celebrities marry, possibly have children, and appear to be very happy, only to split up a few years later?

The answer is quite extensive. In fact, the majority of them.

Kurt and Goldie, on the other hand. No, they’ve established themselves as the gold standard for long-lasting Hollywood romances, and they’ve raised a lovely family.

So, what is the secret to their success? Well, the couple claims it has a lot to do with marriage… and specifically not engaging in it.

The truth about Goldie Hawn and her son is shocking.
When it comes to beloved Hollywood couples, few can boast the adoration and love of fans all over the world like Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn.

The couple, who have been praised for their individual on-screen exploits as well as their heartwarming affection for one another, have been together for nearly 40 years – a remarkable achievement in an age when celebrities seem to trade partners like pairs of old shoes.

Kurt and Goldie’s steadfast dedication to each other is what makes their relationship so special – and, we might add, so real in the eyes of the public. They don’t use their romance to boost their celebrity, and they’ve never been involved in scandals or publicity stunts to derail the locomotive PR train.

Instead, theirs appears to be a partnership from another era, an inspiring and very agreeable union that reminds us all what true love is all about.

Goldie and Kurt have been married for 40 years as of the weekend. They were movie stars during that time, but they were also able to maintain a loving relationship and show great devotion to their family.

The couple’s admirable devotion to one another is something special, and their love story over the years is even more intriguing.

In 1966, Goldie and Kurt met while filming The Only and Only, Genuine Original Family Band. In an interview with BBC Radio 4, Hawn recalled the meeting.

“I was 21 and he was 16,” Hawn said.

“I thought he was adorable, but he was much too young. Then, years later we met up again, and I remembered that I liked him very much when I first met him. We both said we would never go out with another actor so it just shows you never can tell.”

They weren’t ready to start dating just yet. And, despite the fact that Goldie Hawn appeared to be the happiest person on the planet at the time, she was actually struggling.

According to reports, she battled depression behind closed doors, which she did not disclose to the public.

Hawn revealed on the talk show Good Morning Britain that her mental health issues began in her early twenties.

“When I was young, I became depressed. I was 21 and I was rising to success,” she said.

I know it sounds terrible, but it’s a very, very difficult thing, I didn’t necessarily want that.”
Goldie Hawn married actor Gus Trikonis in 1969, but the couple divorced four years later. She was granted a divorce in June 1976 and married Bill Hudson a few weeks later, a six-year marriage.

Russell and Hawn reconnected in 1983 while filming Swing Shift.

This time, Russell attempted to impress Hawn with the pick-up line, “Man, you’ve got a great figure.”

“I was severely hungover and I didn’t know Goldie at all outside of having worked with her those many years before,” Russell said in a 2017 interview with Conan O’Brien.

“I just didn’t have in my mind what I was going to see, and she had a great body. So the first thing that came out was, ‘Man, you’ve got a great figure.’ It came out quickly and it could’ve gone wrong, and she said, ‘Why thank you.’”

At the time, Goldie had two children from her marriage with Bill Hudson. Oliver was born on September 7, 1976, and Kate was born on April 19, 1979.

Kurt and Goldie have been together for 40 years, but the celebrity couple is still deeply in love.

And perhaps the most intriguing aspect of their relationship? They’ve never felt the need for a marriage certificate to formalize their union.

“For people like us, the marriage certificate wasn’t going to create anything that otherwise we wouldn’t have,” Russell told People.

“I don’t know – 40 years isn’t enough to finally say, ‘Well I guess…’”

“Our children got married,” Hawn added. Oliver and Wyatt are both very happy in their marriages. Katie married once and it didn’t work out, and now she’s with this incredible human, and I’m not sure if she’ll marry again. The point is that we all tried marriage, and marriage does not always work.

“It’s not about the marriage. It’s about the people and the relationship, and the will to stay together. And that’s a big one because if you want it, you can have it. You’ve got to give things up, but the joy and the excitement of being together and touching the toes of somebody at night is really a nice feeling.”
