A compassionate plumber from Britain, known for his kindness, has contributed nearly £13,000 to fund a bionic arm for a young football enthusiast born without a right arm.
James Anderson, a charitable individual from Burnley, Lancashire, was deeply moved by the touching story of Alex Sparkes.
Alex’s mother, Dionne Sparkes, 33, residing in Oswaldtwistle, initiated a campaign to raise £12,700 for her seven-year-old son to be able to participate fully in throw-ins alongside his football team.
As a devoted season ticket holder for Blackburn Rovers, the young boy cherished the dream of having a blue and white robotic arm adorned with his team’s iconic rose emblem.
To his astonishment, on Tuesday night, James conveyed the surprising news, saying, “I’ve just paid for your new arm.”
A heartwarming video captured the moment when Alex’s face lit up with joy upon hearing the news. Expressing his heartfelt desire, he exclaimed, ‘I want it so much. It would make me happy. It would mean the world to me.’
Dionne, his mother, revealed that she had no prior knowledge of his missing limb until her determined son was born without a right arm. While he was cherished by his friends, he spent previous birthdays hoping for his arm to miraculously regenerate, only to be informed that it was not possible.
However, Dionne emphasized that James’s generous donation of a new arm would be life-changing for Alex. Overwhelmed by James’s kind-heartedness, she shared, “I never thought someone would be so kind. When James phoned me yesterday he just said, ‘Send me your bank details and I will send it'”.
Immediately after leaving James’s residence, the three of them embraced tightly, their hearts filled with gratitude. As they sat in the car, an outburst of excitement filled the air. Alex exclaimed, “I’ve got a new arm!’ He absolutely loved it.” His delight was immeasurable.
James, the compassionate individual behind the successful organization Depher, discovered Alex’s fundraiser through Carl Everitt, the co-owner of a local ice hockey club. Alex’s story deeply touched James’s heart, leading him to develop a profound affection for the young boy.
James expressed, “His story drew me in. If Depher can do anything, this would be it.. The arm will give a little boy his life back. I fell in love with him.”
He firmly believed that this gift would leave an indelible mark on Alex, improving his life significantly and enabling him to truly live again. Witnessing Alex’s radiant smile upon hearing the news filled James with humility and made the decision an easy one.
Seeing Alex embrace life with a smile and happiness, determined to carry on, brought immense joy to James. He remarked, “It’s just wonderful to see a young boy go through so much and just want to be as normal as possible.”
