Kim Kardashian admits she ‘cries herself to sleep’ while talking about the challenges of raising four children

Kim Kardashian shared a candid revelation about her parenting struggles in an upcoming episode of the podcast On Purpose With Jay Shetty.

The 42-year-old SKIMS founder, known for her edgy style, recently attended her son’s basketball game. Kim has four children, North (9), Saint (7), Chicago (5), and Psalm (4), from her previous marriage to Kanye West.

In an exclusive snippet from the podcast obtained by People, Kim was asked about her vision of parenting before having kids and how it differs from reality.

Kim Kardashian reflected on the reality of parenting, acknowledging the popular saying, “The days are long, and the years are short,” as a highly accurate statement.

She emphasized the intense moments of chaos and busyness, particularly during the baby phase when feeding and other tasks consume one’s time. Despite the challenges, she described it as “the best chaos” and cherished the experience.

Kim Kardashian shared her hectic mornings, highlighting the need to perfect her daughter’s hair and help her son put on his shoes amidst the chaos. She described the madness of cooking, running around, and the necessity of her morning workout to prepare for the two hours of mayhem.

Reflecting on parenthood, Kim expressed that it has been the most challenging and enlightening experience, with nights when she finds herself crying and wondering what just happened due to the various moods and conflicts among her children.

She explained that, ‘There’s no one there. Like, it’s me to play good cop and bad cop. So, like, that is definitely a challenge,’ and admitted that she was ‘working on being a little bit firmer.’

Kim also confessed that there is nothing that truly prepares one for parenting, regardless of financial stability or having a home, but emphasized the importance of figuring things out and feeling proud of one’s accomplishments at the end of the day.

Despite the challenges, Kim recognized the rewarding aspects of parenting, stating that it teaches individuals more about themselves than they could have anticipated.

Kim, who married Kanye West in 2014, shares two daughters, North and Chicago, and two sons, Saint and Psalm, with him. However, their marriage ended in divorce, which was finalized in November of the previous year.

In a December 2022 interview on the Angie Martinez IRL podcast, Kim became emotional while discussing the challenges of co-parenting and protecting her children and ex-husband from the public eye. She expressed her determination to shield her children from the impact of their father’s public outbursts and stressed the importance of maintaining their well-being.

Reflecting on her own upbringing with her late father, Robert Kardashian, Kim tearfully acknowledged the difficulties of co-parenting and described it as a challenging experience.

She stated that when her children are ready, she will have open conversations with them about their father’s public outbursts but, for now, she chooses to remain silent.

Kim expressed her belief that one day her children will appreciate her decision not to speak negatively about their father publicly. She assured that she will privately address any questions or concerns they may have in the future.

While preparing for the release of the podcast episode, Kim has been keeping busy with promotions for her SKIMS pop-up shop at Rockefeller Center in New York City. She recently celebrated her son Psalm’s fourth birthday earlier this month.
