Homeless teen with a 4.3 GPA becomes valedictorian and receives over $3 million in scholarships

Tupac Mosley’s story is one of perseverance and dedication to his education despite facing incredible adversity. The young man from Memphis, TN, not only graduated as valedictorian of his high school, but he also received more than $3 million in college scholarships.

This impressive achievement is all the more remarkable given the financial struggles that Tupac and his family have experienced since his father’s passing in 2017. Earlier this year, the family became homeless, and Tupac found himself sleeping on the floors of hotel rooms. Nevertheless, he remained focused on his studies and continued to excel academically.

In a statement to CNN, Tupac reflected on his lowest point, saying that sleeping on the floor of a hotel room was “the hardest point in my life.” Despite this hardship, he never lost sight of his goals and worked hard to secure scholarships for his education.

Tupac credits his achievements to the support of his family, friends, and community. During his graduation speech, he took the time to recognize the principal of his school and the director of the For the Kingdom organization, which runs a campground and provided his family with a place to stay.

He expressed his gratitude to the director for allowing his family to remain at the campground while they saved up funds to find a new home.

Now that he has secured his own apartment, Tupac plans to remain close to his family while he attends Tennessee State University, where he has been invited to study electrical engineering. He hopes that his success will inspire others to persevere through their own challenges and pursue their dreams.
