An individual liked exploring his hometown on foot while using a metal detector to search for undiscovered treasure. In St. Augustine, Florida, he was astounded to find a large diamond ring. Even though it was valuable, he didn’t keep it.
Joseph Cook was a devoted metal detectorist who frequently searched beaches. He frequently discovered valuable goods while on his assignments, yet curiously, he never kept the loot. Cook enjoyed finding the owners and gave them their missing property whenever he could.
He posted videos of his exploits online, and one of them became viral after he made a startling find. A pricey engagement ring that he discovered was discovered.
The Exciting Discovery
Cook was accustomed to discovering valuable objects, but he was unaware of what he was in for when his metal detector detected something in 2022. He was mistaken; it wasn’t a nickel as he had assumed. It had a diamond on it.
It was filmed on TikTok when he first spotted the ring. Cook exclaimed with shock at what he saw:

Cook had previously recovered and given back items worth a total of $60,000, but he had never discovered anything as valuable as the diamond ring. Although he was speechless, what he did even shocked many people.
He began receiving calls from a mysterious number.
Cook was resolved to track down the owner of the ring rather than selling it and pocketing the proceeds. After two weeks of posting about it online, he began getting calls from an unknown number.
He initially didn’t answer the calls, but when he did, he discovered that the supposed owner of the ring was calling in order to speak with him. The Jacksonville resident insisted that his wife owned the ring.
The Owner was touched and grateful.
Cook was overjoyed to learn he had located the true owners after confirming the ring’s unique number and examining the purchase receipts provided by the individual claiming to be the ring’s owner. When he encountered the man, he returned the costly item.
They called the man’s wife, who sobbed when she heard that her ring had been found. She expressed gratitude to Cook for being nice and truthful while also expressing her relief. The metal detecting expert revealed:
“They were pretty happy. The wife was on a FaceTime call, and she just said, ‘I can’t believe it,’ and then she just started crying.”
