Andy Barnard, a devoted father from Thetford, England, made a vow to his infant daughter, Poppy-Mai, that he would give her a unique and memorable wedding when she grew up. However, his plans were disrupted when Poppy-Mai was diagnosed with cancer.
Watching their daughter, Poppy-Mai, battle cancer was an incredibly difficult experience for Andy and Sammi. Despite undergoing chemotherapy treatments, the cancer continued to spread throughout their little girl’s body, leaving the couple feeling helpless and devastated.
When it became clear that Poppy-Mai’s condition was terminal, Andy made another vow to her. He promised that he would do everything he could to raise funds to establish a sanctuary in her memory where parents could bring their ill children.
As Poppy-Mai’s final moments approached, Andy and Sammi brought their daughter home from the hospital. The very next day, in fulfillment of his promise, a wedding for his little girl was taken play at their home. Numerous friends and family members were in attendance, and there wasn’t a dry eye in the room.
After a few days, Andy shared the heartbreaking news with their loved ones that Poppy-Mai had passed away and earned her angel wings. However, he remains dedicated to his promise of building a retreat in her memory and continues to raise funds for the cause.
