Identified as Ms. Liu in Shanghai’s local media, she became suspicious when one of her treasured rubber duckies went missing from her collection, a frequent freebie alongside her drink purchases.
Skeptical of her canine companion’s innocence, Liu promptly sought veterinary attention.
The dog’s stomach x-ray confirmed her fears, revealing at least five rubber ducks within. The pup was swiftly taken into emergency surgery, during which an additional six ducks were extracted, tallying up to 11 swallowed toys in total.
Rubber ingestion can be perilous for dogs, whether it’s rubber ducks or simple pet store toys, cautioned Pet Educate. While some cases might pass without incident, more often than not, it can lead to choking or obstructed digestion.
