When Hayden Kristal brought home a 5-week-old deaf and blind puppy, Steve Kristal was unsure of what to expect.
He worried about how the puppy, named Bitsy, would navigate her new environment and what her quality of life would be like.
However, his concerns quickly dissipated when he saw her spirited personality. Despite her impairments, Bitsy was full of energy and had a cheerful demeanor.

Bitsy adapted quickly to her new home and became a loving and loyal companion to Hayden. She loves going on adventures with her mom, including biking, canoeing, skateboarding, and riding on the subway. Steve is also smitten with Bitsy and is her biggest champion. He adores spoiling her with treats and toys and talks about her to anyone who will listen.

When the pandemic separated Steve from Bitsy and her mom, he worried that she would forget him. But when they were finally reunited after a year, Bitsy’s reaction was priceless. She showered Steve with kisses, wagged her tail, and excitedly jumped on him. Their heartwarming reunion was captured on video and went viral, amassing over 34,000 views on T&T Creative Media’s YouTube page.

Despite her impairments, Steve believes that Bitsy’s abilities are far more impressive than the ones she is missing. He believes that she has a special soul and that their love for each other is genuine. While dogs can remember people through sight, scent, and sound, Steve thinks that Bitsy remembered him because of her heart.
