When we become parents, we can love in ways we didn’t think were possible. I can honestly say that the day I became a parent was the best day of my life. The moment I saw my baby, I knew that my time on Earth would never be the same again.
Of course, I’m not the only one who feels this way. If you ask almost any parent in the world, they’ll say the same thing.
Sad to say, not all parents are like this. There are people who, for no good reason, could leave their children or, even worse, hurt them.
One family in Paraguay has been through both good times and bad times. Their story began with a woman named Doa Ignacia, who turned 90 last year, in 2021.
In her younger years, she had a son named Pablo Acua. Not long after he was born, she noticed that he wasn’t growing and learning as he should.
“I quickly realized that my son, at an early age, wasn’t growing much,” she explained.
She and her husband eventually took him to the hospital to find out what was wrong with him and what could be done to help him.

Ignacia said, “He was in the hospital for two or three months, then he [the father] brought him back just like when they left,” Ignacia explained.
Pablo was born with a condition that stopped his limbs from growing, so he was essentially born without arms and legs.
His mother stayed with him and nursed him, just like she would with any other child. Pablo had to use a wheelchair as he grew up, but his mother still told him every day that he was special and deserved to live as much as anyone else.
Maybe this kindness gave Pablo the mindset he needed to make a big difference when he became a parent himself. He was said to have had two daughters, but when they were young, their mother left them and walked away.
Even though Pablo has a lot going on in his life, he was able to raise his two daughters with love and care. Today, they are in their twenties, and Elida has talked about how much she loves her father.
She said that even though he never went to school, he is wise and smart and that he is always happy and positive no matter what life throws at him.
“My dad is my world. He is my friend… he is the best dad in the world. That’s why I left my life in Argentina and came to stay,” she said.
“To be able to take care of him because, my grandmother can no longer do it because she is already old.”
