In a recent interview with Piers Morgan, Cristiano Ronaldo revealed heartbreaking details regarding the passing of his infant son.
Ronaldo and Rodriguez were expecting twins on April 18, but the striker just disclosed that only one of the babies, a baby girl, made it through the delivery process. Unfortunately, their son did not make it.
In a recent episode of Piers Morgan Uncensored, which covered a wide range of topics, the 37-year-old actor discussed the terrifying experience he went through.
He said: “It was probably the worst moment that I have had in my life, since my father died.”
Ronaldo is a dad to a total of four children; two of his sons, Cristiano Jr. and Mateo, and two of his girls, Eva and Alana.
The previous winner of the Ballon d’Or broke the sad news to his followers on Instagram on April 18, and he chose to sit out the next day’s encounter against Liverpool.
The following week, he made his comeback to the field and scored a goal for his team against Arsenal. As he celebrated the goal, he pointed to the sky and said that he was doing it for his son.
Ronaldo expressed some of the conflicting feelings that he experienced when grieving the loss of one child while simultaneously celebrating the birth of another child into the world.
At the time, Cristiano had 432 million followers on Instagram, and he and Georgina posted the combined message for all of those followers to see:
They posted: “It is with our deepest sadness we have to announce that our baby boy has passed away. It is the greatest pain that any parents can feel.”
“Only the birth of our baby girl gives us the strength to live this moment with some hope and happiness. We would like to thank the doctors and nurses for all their expert care and support.”
