Couple rescues and adopts a 19-year-old cow that was labeled as “useless”

The farm where she originated from utilized her for milk production and breeding purposes, resulting in 14 calves over a span of 15 years. However, once she ceased producing milk, she was deemed unprofitable and considered “useless.”

Despite this, the dairy farmer couldn’t bear to part ways with Helen. He made a selfless decision to sell his operations and instructed the new owner to keep Helen, enabling him to continue caring for her and keeping a watchful eye. Unfortunately, the new owner neglected Helen’s well-being as a senior and blind cow.

Although the initial adjustment was challenging for Helen, Rian and Scooter patiently worked towards earning her trust. They customized her enclosure to accommodate her lack of sight, incorporating sensory cues like wind chimes and a fountain.

Through their daily walks, gentle interactions, and displays of affection, Rian and Scooter showed Helen the love and care she deserved. Helen, at the age of 19, exemplified the power of compassion, teaching her caretakers that when they extend love to animals in need, they receive that love back exponentially.

In the sanctuary, Helen embraces her golden years, living a life of freedom and experiencing the true meaning of love.
