Chuck Norris cares for his wife’s recovery by sleeping on a couch beside her for 5 months

Chuck Norris has had a remarkable career as a martial arts expert, celebrity trainer, Hollywood actor, and author of two New York Times bestsellers.

He has owned and operated more than 30 karate studios and has trained notable figures such as Steve McQueen and Priscilla Presley. Apart from his role in Way of the Dragon, Chuck has starred in several hit movies including Missing in Action, Code of Silence, and The Delta Force. In addition to his entertainment career, he previously served as a US Air Force officer.

The Oklahoma-born individual is not only devoted to his family but also has a large one, consisting of five children and thirteen grandchildren.

On the occasion of their 23rd anniversary, he expressed his feelings on Instagram, accompanying a photo of the couple gazing into each other’s eyes with the caption, “My love, my life, my best friend, my universe.” He also declared his love for his lovely wife whom he was blessed with by God 25 years ago, stating, “I love you from the bottom of my heart.”

The love between Chuck and Gena is clearly still strong, but there was a recent time when Norris was concerned about their future together due to Gena’s illness.

Norris and Gena got married in 1998, nine years after Norris divorced his first wife, Dianne Kay Holechek, following a 30-year marriage.

Chuck, famous for his role in “Walker, Texas Ranger,” and Gena had twin children just two years after their wedding.

In 2013, Gena underwent scans to diagnose rheumatoid arthritis, during which she received a contrast agent injection before the MRI scan.

The purpose of this material was to create contrast in her organs, providing her medical team with a more precise understanding of her organ function and identifying any irregularities.

In an interview, Gena revealed that she was hesitant about the safety of the contrast agent, but her doctors convinced her it was necessary. However, a few days after the procedure, the 59-year-old mother of two started feeling strange.

She didn’t think much of it until a month later when she began experiencing “severe scorching” sensations throughout her body, which eventually became unbearable.

As Gena’s condition worsened and she began experiencing new symptoms like speech and memory difficulties, as well as constant tremors, Norris put his Hollywood career on hold to care for her.

He arranged for Gena to be treated by a specialized doctor in Nevada, where she received effective pain management. This hospital visit was one of many Gena would have to make to alleviate the intense sensations she was experiencing.

Gena described the pain as feeling like acid being poured on her insides, and she required constant care, which her devoted husband provided by sleeping on the couch beside her to be available for her every need. During her recovery, he even read 17 novels to her.

The couple took legal action against several healthcare providers for administering a gadolinium-based MRI that led to Gena’s suffering, alleging that she was poisoned.

They filed a complaint in a San Francisco court, seeking $10 million in damages. Additionally, they intended to use the lawsuit to increase public awareness of the dangers associated with gadolinium in MRI contrast agents.

In a statement made in 2017, Chuck Norris revealed that he had been focusing on Gena’s health for several years and that they were now working together to raise awareness of the risks associated with MRI contrast chemicals.

In 2020, the couple announced that they were dropping their case without reaching a settlement. Chuck Norris has seemingly retired from acting but can still be seen in various commercials.

He is now devoting his time and energy to taking care of his wife, who has made significant progress in her recovery.

Their love story is inspiring, and it is hoped that Gena will make a full recovery so that they can continue to enjoy life together.
