Candice Bergen, 76, is content with her weight because she ‘lives to eat’

Candice Bergen is a familiar face to everyone who watches television. Over the course of her career, the actress has been in a variety of films and television shows, which has helped her build a solid reputation for herself.

And when her detractors attempt to silence her, she demonstrates that she is not someone who will put up with being bullied. She is the type of person who does everything in her life according to her own rules.

Candice Bergen began her career in the fashion industry as a model, working for publications such as Vogue. Since that time, her professional success has skyrocketed, and her name is now recognized everywhere. Her performance in the show “Murphy Brown” was a major factor in her being awarded five Emmys.

However, she had to go through a lot of trouble to acquire such a prestigious post. She disclosed this information in an interview, stating that the role was intended for a younger actress, specifically Heather Locklear.

But her performance during the audition drew the attention of the writer and producer Diane English, and she insisted that she should play the part.

The show as a whole, as well as her character, was a big success, and female viewers all over the country fawned over the way she portrayed a reported. Bergen says with a smile, “that character gave me permission to be my brattiest, bawdiest self.” Bergen remembers this with great affection.

In recognition of her performance in the role, she was awarded five of the seven Emmys for which she was nominated. However, after what is believed to be her fifth win, she reportedly requested that she not be considered for an Emmy again.

The reason for this was due to how the actress opted to reorganize her priorities and live her life differently after making some significant life changes. She disclosed this information about herself in her memoir titled “A Fine Romance,” in which she also discussed the fact that she did not mind being referred to as “fat” because she enjoyed eating so much.

She discussed her connection with food in an open and honest manner in the book, revealing that over the course of the past 15 years, she has gained approximately 30 pounds but does not worry about it.

In the book, she states in no uncertain terms, “Let me just come right out and say it: I am fat. I live to eat. None of this ‘eats to live’ stuff for me.”

She also revealed anecdotes of her having extravagant meals at dinner parties with her husband, and how other dinner attendees would gaze at her with smug glances, but she wouldn’t pay any attention to them since she doesn’t care what they think. She said, “I am a champion eater. No carb is safe — no fat, either.”

She went on to talk about how women in their 50s are so preoccupied with wanting to hold onto their youth that they frequently forget to enjoy themselves in the present moment. She has decided not to make an effort to preserve her youthful appearance or form, and she is savoring every moment of the freedom that this decision has afforded her.

Bergen makes it apparent that she concentrated on food while her pals concentrated on their diets. “dieting is out of my purview. I crave cookies, all the things that dilate my pupils.”

She mentioned some of the ladies she knows who ‘vomit’ out their meals after consuming them in order to maintain their figures, a technique she vehemently denied.

As a mother and grandma, the actress is currently in the second phase of her life. After 15 years of marriage, her first union with French director Louis Malle came to an end in 1995 when he passed away from cancer. From that connection, she gave birth to Chloe Malle, her daughter.

Her second marriage, when she tied the knot with Marshal Rose in the 2000s, is still going strong.

In addition, she is now a grandma to her daughter’s offspring. Her granddaughter Alice Malle Albert was born in April 2022, while her grandson Arthur Louis Albert was born in 2020.

The actress has expressed in the media how happy she is for her daughter to become a mother, calling her “the love of my life.”

The actress openly adores being a grandma to two children and frequently posts adorable moments from her life on social media.
