In Sumter, South Carolina, a 9-year-old boy named Malachi was hailed as a hero after he saved his elderly neighbor’s life. The man, Allen Clemmons, was working on his Mustang convertible close to Malachi’s home when the car slid and fell on his body while he was trying to remove the transmission.

Despite the car falling on Clemmons’ side, which made his injury less severe, he was still trapped underneath. He struggled to breathe and cried out for help, but his family was out running errands and his house was too far from any other house in the neighborhood for someone to hear him and rush to help him.

Clemmons was stuck underneath the heavy car for an hour and a half, crying out for help until he felt he wouldn’t make it. He prayed for a miracle and asked God to help him, to give him one more holler and send an angel by his way. Just as he was about to give up hope, Malachi heard his cries for help. The schoolboy was playing outside when he heard the man’s cries, and he rushed towards the neighbor’s home to see what was happening.

After realizing what was going on, Malachi used his knowledge of how to use a car jack and, with the man’s help, he lifted the car up and saved him. After making sure the man was safe, he ran back to his aunt’s house, where he asked for help.

Clemmons was taken to the hospital, where the doctors treated him for six broken ribs, a fractured pelvis, and a shoulder injury.

Despite his injuries, Clemmons would make a full recovery thanks to Malachi’s heroic actions. The injured man felt forever grateful to the young boy who went above and beyond to save his life. “I don’t think I would have survived another 30 minutes,” he said. “It was getting really hard to breathe. He is truly my guardian angel.”
