He began growing the length of his hair about two years ago and has continued doing so ever since. Tyler has been cultivating a longer head of hair in preparation for a particular individual.
Tyler Boone, then 10 years old, was consistently mistaken for a girl for almost two years.
While in Florida, Tyler and his family frequently attended parties that Gabby Ruiz and her family also frequented.

Tyler also often wondered why Gabby always wore a head covering.
Denise Boone, Tyler’s mother, spoke to ABC News: “Tyler asked why Gabby wouldn’t take the [cover-up] off her head. We explained that Gabby had a condition that wouldn’t let her grow hair.”

So what does he grow long hair for?
He promised to grow his hair long so that he could create a wig for Gabby.
He had frequently been mistaken for a girl as his hair grew. Though he didn’t enjoy it, he had become accustomed to it. He just focused on the ultimate result, a wig for Gabby to wear.
When questioned whether he was certain, Tyler simply responded that it was just hair and that it was possible for his hair to continue growing.

Gabby, who was afflicted with alopecia at the age of four, was deeply touched by the simple act.
An illness called alopecia causes the immune system to assault the hair follicles. Hair loss commonly follows, typically on the head and face. Small, rounded patches of hair loss are possible, as well as more severe cases.
Most people develop it in their teen years, 20s, or 30s. However, some individuals, like Gabby, acquire it at a young age. For kids diagnosed less than 10 years old, it’s also more severe.

Gabby didn’t mind having no hair when she was younger. But it’s different this time.
Gabby’s mother, Emelia, said: “She’s been comfortable with herself regardless, but she’s at that age. She’s about to be 13 and she wants something different. She’s excited to try [the wig].”

Gabby is so thankful for how kind Tyler is

Tyler said about the kind thing he did: “I’m cutting my hair so I can give it to Gabby. I just want to make her happy.”

They went to a JCPenney store near them to have their pictures taken and remember this special time. This was also the time when Gabby cut Tyler’s hair herself. Tyler’s mouth was wide open, and he couldn’t believe what he had just experienced.
He has let his hair grow for so long and hasn’t cut it in two years, so it will feel strange and light.

Then they went to a local salon so Tyler’s hair could be cut and styled properly.

This might not be a big deal for Tyler. But his parents are very happy with what he has done.
