Mel Gibson, born in January 1956 in New York, experienced a pivotal moment in his life when his father won a significant sum of money on Jeopardy! when Mel was just 12 years old. Subsequently, the family decided to relocate to Australia.

Settling in New South Wales, Mel Gibson pursued acting after completing high school. Interestingly, his sister secretly enrolled him in the Sidney National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA), which ultimately propelled him into the world of acting.
