The Davidson family from New Tazewell, Tennessee, went through a harrowing experience in December 2020. The family of five was sound asleep when the smell of smoke jolted them awake, and they realized that their house was on fire. Despite the chaos and panic, their young son Eli Davidson proved to be a hero and helped save his family from the inferno.

Eli Davidson showed immense bravery and heroism when he jumped through a window of his burning house to save his 22-month-old sister Erin. Even many adults would be afraid to take such a risk, but Eli proved to be a young Superman.

After Nicole and Chris Davidson were able to safely evacuate their two sons from the burning house, their worst fear became a reality as they realized their daughter, Erin, was still trapped inside.

It’s hard to fathom the shock and panic the Davidson family must have experienced when they were abruptly awakened by the acrid scent of smoke. The potential danger of a raging fire must have been overwhelming.

Due to the flames surrounding Erin’s bedroom, the Davidsons were unable to access her room and evacuate her with them. They were forced to leave her behind and escape the burning house with their two sons, Elijah and Eli.

Chris, the father of three kids, requested Eli to lift him up and allow him to re-enter the burning house through a window. Eli’s size was the only reason he could assist in this difficult task.

“I didn’t want my sister to die,” said Eli in an interview with WVLT

The brave boy admitted that he was frightened.

It’s natural to feel scared when facing such a dangerous situation. It’s commendable that Eli, who is only 7 years old, overcame his fear and attempted to save his sister. However, when he first went back into the burning house, he couldn’t reach Erin and was hesitant to move closer to the flames.

The family probably felt immense relief when they heard Eli say, “I got her, dad.” He successfully rescued his sister and handed her to their father before being pulled outside himself.

Fortunately, there were no injuries, but the family’s house was completely destroyed.

According to Chris, the fire took away all their belongings and memories. “We lost everything that we have ever had. Our entire lives were in that home,” he said.

Nicole also mentioned that the fire left them with nothing, including their three cars which were also damaged. She further stated in the interview that “You have never been as humble as you are when you don’t even have your underwear to wear.”

On top of losing their home, the Davidson family had to deal with the additional challenges of financial hardship caused by the pandemic and the passing of Nicole’s grandfather.

Despite the devastating loss of their home and possessions, the Davidsons were grateful to have survived the fire. Fortunately, their community rallied around them by creating a GoFundMe campaign to help them recover from the tragedy.

Nicole and Chris have incredibly fostered 34 children, including Eli.

It is our hope that this compassionate family will receive the necessary support to rebuild soon. The Davidsons welcomed Eli into their family just over a year ago through foster care, and they are incredibly proud of him for his bravery.

The Davidsons, who are both former firefighters, consider it a miracle that everyone was able to escape the house in time. The most important thing is that they are safe and sound, and we couldn’t be happier for them.

Regularly testing smoke alarms and inspecting heating sources can prevent disasters like this from happening.
